SEOUL (August 16, 2024) – Copeland, a global provider of sustainable climate solutions, announced that it has partnered with CRK, Korea's top commercial refrigeration company to develop lower global warming potential cold chain refrigeration system technology to support the national refrigerant regulation in Korea. This week, Copeland and CRK announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation related to CO2 sustainable refrigeration systems.
"Through this agreement, we will strengthen our expertise in refrigerant technology, which is one of the core of commercial refrigeration and refrigeration technology, and focus on the development of various eco-friendly products" said Jaik Koo, Chief Executive Officer for CRK. "We will further solidify our position as the top total cold chain solution company in Korea through continuous technology development and research."
CRK, which has played a leading role in the field of refrigeration and carbon reduction technology through a strong foundation of collaboration, has taken the lead in the large-scale government project development of sustainable, low-temperature cold chain refrigeration system technology in response to refrigerant regulations that will be implemented from this year to March 2028, and has made such an agreement to secure various lower global warming potential technology capabilities.
Copeland continues to answer the increasing demand for natural refrigerants by offering solutions with R-744 (CO₂) refrigerant and has developed integrated solutions for subcritical and transcritical CO2 system with semi hermetic and scroll compressor technology, controls and monitoring systems. Copeland CO₂ solutions enable the refrigeration industry to successfully adapt to regulatory and climate challenges while meeting ever-increasing space and noise constraints in urban environments.
“With this partnership, we will jointly develop innovative low global warming potential CO2 refrigeration solutions to create a sustainable cold chain infrastructure,” said Sandeep Nair, President of Asia, Middle East, and Africa for Copeland.
In the future, Copeland will provide CRK with integrated CO₂ compression, controls and monitoring systems, and technical support for the development of CO2 refrigeration systems, as well as support for the CO₂ refrigeration technology education and training.
