This software tool offers a simple way to calculate refrigerant charge limits for refrigeration, air-conditioning, or heat pump systems in relation to the applied location, selected application, and accessibility class according to safety standard EN 378-1, annex C.
Copeland's Refrigerant Charge Calculator in a few points:
- Tool to support the calculation of the maximum possible refrigerant charge of A2L refrigerants, according to safety standard EN 378-1
- For any type of refrigeration system and refrigerant type, the system designer has a general requirement to carry out a risk assessment.
- In systems with A2L refrigerants, the flammability aspect must also be considered. One of the resulting criteria is the limitation of the maximum refrigerant quantity.
- The general safety standard EN378-1 specifies the details and calculation basics for determining the maximum possible refrigerant charge with A2L refrigerants.
- The Refrigerant Charge Calculator takes the different categories as input parameter for calculation and offers a simple and quick method to determine the maximum possible charge quantity
- Various classifications, such as location class of the refrigeration system, access area category, application selection, type of refrigerant and room dimensions are considered
- The calculation currently includes the following refrigerants: R454C, R454A, R455A, R454B, R452B, R152a, R1234yf and R1234ze
